Task 1 – Turn on the Discoverable option on the BlackBerry smartphone<\/strong><\/p>\n

Complete the following steps:<\/p>\n

1. On the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options<\/strong> > Bluetooth<\/strong>.
\n2. Display the menu and click Options<\/strong>.
\n3. Set the Discoverable<\/strong> field to Yes<\/strong>.
\n4. Display the menu and click Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Task 2 – Pair the BlackBerry smartphone and the computer<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the computer, complete the following steps:<\/p>\n

1. Go to Control Panel<\/strong> > Bluetooth Devices<\/strong>.
\n2. Click Add<\/strong>.
\n3. Select the My device is set up and ready to be found<\/strong> check box, and click Next<\/strong>.
\n4. When the BlackBerry smartphone is detected, select the check box next to the BlackBerry smartphone, and click Next<\/strong>.
\n5. Select the Let me choose my own passkey<\/strong> option.
\n6. Type a passkey in the field provided, and click Next<\/strong>.
\n7. On the BlackBerry smartphone, type the same passkey from Step 6, then click the trackball.
\n8. On the computer, when the Completing the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard screen appears, click Finish<\/strong>.
\n9. On the BlackBerry smartphone, when prompted to accept an incoming Bluetooth connection, select Don’t Ask Again<\/strong>, and click Yes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Task 3 – Set up the Internet access point name (APN)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> You only need to perform this task the first time that you set up the Internet APN.<\/p>\n

On the computer, complete the following steps:<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> If you are running Windows Vista, select Classic View.<\/p>\n

1. Go to Control Panel <\/strong>> Phone and Modem Options<\/strong>.
\n2. Select the Modems<\/strong> tab.
\n3. Select Standard Modem Over Bluetooth Link<\/strong>, and click Properties<\/strong>.
\n4. Select the Advanced<\/strong> tab.
\n5. In the Extra initialization commands<\/strong> field, type the following:<\/p>\n

+CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”“<\/your><\/strong><\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> To obtain your Internet APN, contact your wireless service provider.
\n6. Click OK<\/strong>.
\n7. In the Phone and Modem Options<\/strong> window, click OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Task 4 – Configure Dial-Up Networking<\/strong><\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> You only need to perform this task the first time that you configure Dial-Up Networking.<\/p>\n

On the computer, complete the following steps:<\/p>\n

1. Go to Start<\/strong> > Settings<\/strong> > Network Connections<\/strong>.
\n2. Right-click Bluetooth DUN connection<\/strong>, and select Properties<\/strong>.
\n3. Select the Networking<\/strong> tab.
\n4. Select Internet Protocol (TCP\/IP)<\/strong>.
\n5. Click Properties<\/strong>.
\n6. Click Advanced<\/strong>.
\n7. Select the General<\/strong> tab, and clear the Use IP Header Compression<\/strong> check box.
\n8. Click OK<\/strong> to close all open windows.
\n9. Go to Start<\/strong> > Settings<\/strong> > Network Connections<\/strong>.
\n10. Double-click New Connection Wizard<\/strong>.
\n11. Click Next<\/strong>.
\n12. Select Connect to the Internet<\/strong>, and click Next<\/strong>.
\n13. Select Set up my connection manually<\/strong>, and click Next<\/strong>.
\n14. Select Connect using a dial-up modem<\/strong>, click Next<\/strong>.
\n15. Select Modem – Standard Modem Over Bluetooth link<\/strong>, and click Next<\/strong>.
\n16. If the Select a Device screen appears, select the Modem – Standard Modem<\/strong> check box, and click Next<\/strong>.
\n17. Clear the ISP Name<\/strong> field blank, if necessary, and click Next<\/strong>.
\n18. Complete the appropriate step below:
\n* If the BlackBerry smartphone operates on General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) or Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution (EDGE) networks, type *99#<\/strong> in the Phone number<\/strong> field, and click Next<\/strong>.
\n* If the BlackBerry smartphone operates on Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) networks, type *98#<\/strong> in the Phone number<\/strong> field, and click Next<\/strong>.
\n* If the BlackBerry smartphone operates on Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) or 1x\/Evolution Data Optimized (EVDO) networks, type #777<\/strong> in the Phone number <\/strong>field, and click Next<\/strong>.
\n19. Type the user name and password provided by your wireless service provider. If your wireless service provider has confirmed that this information is not required, leave the fields blank. Click Next<\/strong>.
\n20. Click Finish<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Task 5 – Connect the computer to the Internet using Dial-Up Networking<\/strong><\/p>\n

Note: During this procedure, do not operate the BlackBerry? Browser or any third-party applications on the BlackBerry smartphone. An active data session may interfere with the modem connection. Also, make sure an ethernet connection is not active at the same time.<\/p>\n

On the computer, complete the following steps:<\/p>\n

1. Click Start<\/strong> > Settings<\/strong> > Network Connections<\/strong> > <Name of the new connection<\/em>><\/strong>.
\n2. Type the user name and password provided by your wireless service provider. If your wireless service provider does not require this information, leave the fields blank.
